CLIENT: ARCHER MAGAZINE
Redesigning a bold publication to break records - and barriers.
Before we worked together
Archer Magazine was already an iconic, multi-award-winning publication exploring sex, gender, and identity. Known for its raw, honest storytelling and striking visuals, it had built a strong community—but the layout and design hadn’t evolved in a while, and the team was ready for a refresh. They wanted the design to match the calibre of the content, and bring even more clarity, edge, and impact to the reading experience.

Working together
As a designer, I came on board to lead the layout design, typesetting, and contribute illustrations across multiple issues. In 2023, I spearheaded a full redesign of the magazine—bringing a new visual energy to the pages while honouring its roots in independent, radical publishing.
That same year, I designed The Incarceration Issue from cover to cover, working closely with the team to make sure every visual element supported the stories being told. It was a big, brave issue—and we wanted the design to hold space for the complexity, urgency, and nuance of the theme.

After working together
The result? Archer’s best-selling issue to date.
The Incarceration Issue not only resonated deeply with readers—it also went on to win the Victorian Pride Award in 2024, marking a major milestone in the magazine’s history.
The redesign gave Archer a fresh new feel, strengthened its visual identity, and helped it reach more people than ever before. And for me, it was a dream project: creative, collaborative, and rooted in storytelling that matters.
